    STARTING HOURLY RATE: $16.00 - $16.73 (PLACEMENT DEPENDS ON SIMILAR EXPERIENCE HELD AND EDUCATION)

    SUMMARY:

    The Community Assistant coordinates between the school and the community to collect, maintain, and input information on students who qualify for student services.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    1. Distributes, collects and reviews data on the student application to determine aid eligibility and make the award of eligibility within state and federal and/or District policy. Monitors eligible students to ensure on-going participating eligibility.
    2. Maintains accurate records and implements guidelines and procedures as authorized by District Policy, state and federal agencies.
    3. Encodes eligible students breakfast/lunch tickets as required for the District to maintain Provision Two (2) status.
    4. Prepares reports as required.
    5. Answers questions, inquiries, or requests from eligible students or households regarding providing information, eligibility, and resolving problems.
    6. Performs general clerical functions and assists in maintaining student folders, greets parents, responds to incoming telephone calls and distributes registration packets.
    7. Assists in data entry of student handbook, weapons policy, internet authorization form, directory, dress code policy, etc. into the student information system.
    8. Supports the relationship between the Phoenix Union High School District and the public by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior when interacting with students, parents, visitors, and school staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and school information; follows Governing Board Policies; performs all other related duties as required or assigned.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines:

    High School diploma or GED equivalent; AND fluency in the language of the target population served preferred.

    • Ability to maintain accurate records and prepares summary reports.
    • Ability to operate a computer required.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to provide excellent customer experiences, including but not limited to interacting tactfully and courteously with the public.
